Noordrand Brussel + rondje Brussels Airport
246
Nice, smooth ride along the northern edge of Brussels + an interesting loop around Brussels Airport. Admittedly, a full 3 hours in the rain. With the sand still lying on the small roads from the last thunderstorm, bike and rider got as dirty as in winter.

Another unexpected, fun ride with many photogenic spots. But the persistent rain kept the camera in the back pocket. Another loop to come back again.
Also interesting is the Salangaan bridge, where cyclists have to use the lift (the stairs are really steep). On the Salangaan bridge you have a nice view

Nice tour on a loop suggested by Strava.
But... this time I forgot the camera 🙈🙈🙈.
Targeted endurance training with the brakes on. 😉
Komoten on the road bike... clearly having trouble with the switch.

Haha, when I ride alone like this, I have to be careful not to drive on the left. 😉

Just for the archives.
The campsite had to be vacated by 1:00 PM. At 9:00 AM I had my probably last full Irish Breakfast.
I feared I would have to wander around like a homeless person, as the ferry doesn't leave until 3:30 AM tomorrow.
But first I found Lily’s Café & Pizzeria and here I had for lunch

IR38 New Ross - Tagoat
A quiet drive through the southeast of Wexford: from mural-rich New Ross past the Barrow, through open farmland and small villages towards the coast. The landscape becomes increasingly flat and lighter, until you feel the wide bays and the salty air of Rosslare.

Description:
You depart between the murals of New Ross and first follow the river zone, where art, history and water intersect. Then you cycle through an open, rolling inland with quiet roads, farms and long straights. As you approach Rosslare, the landscape changes: more light, more wind, more coastal

IR37 Rathdrum - New Ross
IR37 is a quiet southbound traverse through County Wicklow and County Wexford, from the Avonmore Valley via the confluence at Meeting of the Waters, the open Derry Water Valley around Aughrim and the farmland towards Bunclody, ending in the river town of New Ross on the broad Barrow Quay.

A last tough ride, but the climbs are a maximum of 200 m high.
It climbs right from the start. The village of Rathdrum is higher than the campsite. A little further it goes to Avondale House, here they have built a nice tree path. The rest of the ride is on local roads. Pretty nice, without

Today it went through the garden of Ireland or the Wicklow Mountains with two climbs to 500m. The bike is sputtering, not like two years ago to Rome, where it gave up completely. But it keeps stalling. So with a heavy heart towards that first big climb.
After barely 7 km I reach Kiltipper park

I have already explored large cities by bike. But this one was a difficult one.
Probably a Saturday afternoon is not ideal. In the Temple Bar going-out area, I was the only cyclist, apart from the fast-food delivery guys😉.
For the kilometers, the Royal Canal Greenway is responsible.

It indeed went over small, quiet roads.
In Ratoath I notice a bakery. Here I eat my next Irish Breakfast. This time there are potatoes with it. As I leave, a group of cyclists come in, who saw me last week in Donegal... They recognise the bike 😉.
Eventually I reach the Royal Canal Way, but

Know that the bike guide recommends doing the section between Belfast and Dublin by train. The route would be of little interest...
Speaking of a surprise.
Yes, the route mostly ran along the main road. But it passed incredible highlights.
It started with the Proleek Dolmen. How big it was!

First, I had to go back to Portadown, which I did by mistake via yesterday's road and not the planned route. From Portadown

Sunday club ride. It wasn't too fast, but the course was tough. Getting to know the Bruine Put from the Brabantse Pijl. A climb where you can really go all out. 😉
Some overlap with my Tuesday ride.
