During lunch at the visitor center of Prinsenpark in Retie, I had paused my Garmin watch. Due to some incorrect manipulation on my part, it had saved the route and I had to restart. That's why there are two parts to this walk.

This was a stop on our way home. We had stayed overnight near Carlisle and were now driving to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to catch the ferry to IJmuiden. A short visit to The Sill and then to the remains of Hadrian's Wall. Our last walk of this holiday, a short one to stretch our legs. 😉

This pleasant - although sometimes muddy - walk follows the flat coastline northwards from the Garmony Point car park and offers the chance to spot otters. Unfortunately, we didn't see any. The route loops through the woods near Fishnish, with views of the ferry to Lochaline, before we returned to the car park the same way.

On the way to our next holiday destination, Isle of Mull, we stayed overnight in Arrochar, a small Scottish village on Loch Long. After dinner, we took a walk partly along the loch, partly up a forest path. Because the path we wanted to take for the return journey was interrupted, we returned the same way.

It was a tough hike, but we were rewarded with beautiful views along the way and at the summit.
The steep descent also required a lot of effort.
