Ardgarten peninsula circuit
Start at the Ardgarten forestry commission parking, follow the single track road south then after a while pass a barrier gate (parking here too) the forestry track proper starts, follow this ignoring the turnoffs, to the fingerpost for the dukes pass, where there is also a small lochan. Good spot…

Ride up Earls seat from Killearn
Tight woodland and moorland tracks, paths on the tops. Not a recommended ride during or after wet weather as the ground will be saturated the higher you go, worth it for the exercise. and views!

Callander to Comrie and back
Steep pull up the Bracklinn Falls road, rough moorland landrover track beyond the farm at the road end. Feels wonderfully remote and empty. Quiet single track road to Comrie, coffee at Cultybraggan or in the town , return up Glen Artney via quiet road and rough tracks on the north…

Aberfoyle to Loch Venachar via the John Muir way, then Aberfoyle via the Great Trossachs trail
A varied off road circuit using forest tracks, narrow trails and one short section of quiet single track road. Lots of climbing so stamina needed, some good downhill sections.. loads of variations to explore. Route can be easily shortened to suit the day.

Bankfoot, around Little Glen Shee, and the Logiealmond hills
Fabulous estate tracks and minor roads, nothing technical but good fitness required. Couple of points to consider, this is a big day out with a lot of ascent in remote hill country. There are lots of alternate tracks-focus on navigation is essential. A few estate/forestry gates to pass through and…

Glen Lonan & Loch Nant circuit
Well surfaced minor roads and tracks throughout, one (avoidable) section at Loch Nell is singletrack. You are well off tourist trails here.
Take care when crossing the major road in Taynult.

Flanders moss Loch Ard loop from Aberfoyle
An easy, very quiet, short outing which has as many variations as you want. GPS mapping is useful espc in QE forest park with many tempting tracks. It’s so easy to become disoriented!

South side of Loch Lyon above Killin
We planned to travel round the Loch but winter conditions didn’t allow! So it turned out to be an out and back trip in a wild, remote but accessible area. Good tracks throughout - be aware that the rivers can be difficult in high water or frozen conditions…

Carron Valley Meikle Bin
Great signposted forest tracks and trails, Meikle Bin is a steep grassy, very wet ascent. Excellent viewpoint. This was a short outing so no playing on the MTB routes! On our visit many fallen trees across the tracks, one in particular difficult to pass

Starting from the forest road end near Loch Achray extends the route but parking is easier and it’s a lovely link piece. The road up from Brig o Turk is a tarmac surface, it climbs past the dam, some sections are quite steep. Passing a small hydro station in a…

Beinn a Bhuird
One of the best single track rides in the mountains. The pine forest is beautiful, the access track is great in itself and the path to and from the summit a joy. Be aware either river crossing IS dangerous/impassable after heavy sustained rain, and it’s a high mountain plateau you…
