🚲🥾 Càrn Bhac and Beinn Lutharn Mhòr
Started from Inverey for a bike and hike to two munros: Càrn Bhac [Hill of peat hags] and Beinn Lutharn Mhòr [Big Hill of the Edge]. Cycled to the end of the track at the ruin of Altanour Lodge, which is behind a deer fence (~8km cycle).
Started our hike…

Carn an Tuirc, Carn of Claise, Tolmount & Tom Buidhe
My first solo munro adventure, thanks to Scotland's ⚽️ world cup bank holiday.
A brilliant day out and a great route. Parts could be very boggy after rain though!
I contoured across from Carn an Tuirc to Tolmount - perhaps the boggiest part. Even found a very thin snow tunnel…

Mayar and Driesh
Headed to Glen Clova today. A later start as the weather was due to improve in the afternoon. Bagged one of the last parking spaces and headed through the forest to Corrie Fee. It's very picturesque once you get there, although the initial approach through the forestry isn't too exciting.…

🍻 Beer gravel
First organised bike event! Joint Stonehaven's Midsummer Beer Happening Sportive, participating in the gravel event. It was a fun, untimed amd social event. Although a few people got flat tyres as someone had put tacs 📌 out in Fetteresso forest 😣.
The snack station was a welcome stop.
In the…

Clachnaben and Charr Bothy
My first solo hike! I chose a route I am familiar with: Clachnaben. I decided to extend the walk by dropping down to Charr Bothy and following the track back.

Kerloch
A drizzly start to our walk. The second half of the path up Kerloch has seriously deteriorated. It resembles a river bed now, as it's so washed out. Nice views from the top towards Banchory.

🥾⛏️ Coire Chash path maintenance
We cleared the drains and fixed a step on the Coire Chash foot path between Loch Muick and Broad Cairn. It was fairly rainy, so we could see the drainage improvements immediately.
The tale is that the path was originally built for a king to have easier access to the…

Corrieshalloch Gorge
The gorge is spectacular at about 60m deep and 1.5km long. The River Droma flows through it. A suspension bridge over the Falls of Measach provides some appreciation of the drop. This was built in 1874 by Sir John Fowler. The view point a little further along provides a great…

Knockan Crag
A geological visitor centre with several trails. Very interesting walk with various displays. It was quite windy when we stopped, so didn't spend as much time as I had hoped.

An Teallach: A hot day in the forge
Another brilliant day. I had been wanting to climb the An Teallach mountains for a while. It means "the forge" and certainly was hot today. Decided against the traverse in the end. We had enough adventure with the 2 munros. The Torridonean sandstone is incredible.
The highlight was the goats…
