We didn't plan the visit to Riga around these dates for these festivities. We just wanted to escape the heat in Cologne. But ended up lucky and having the chance to enjoy a beer, some dancing, praying to some Pagan gods and lighting the fire 😎

Taking the train for a 30 minute ride to Jurmala. And its beach at the Baltic Sea.
Cute little town. Jomqs Street is what you expect for a tourist beach town, but enjoyable nonetheless. And the beach stretches forever: fine white sand, cafes and beach bars. Easy to spend a fun and/or relaxing time here.

And it was a great decision. Riga is a beautiful old Hanse-Town and large oarts if the ild town have been restored.
Went out for a random walk after breakfast and before our guided introduction tour ... and ended up almost doing the same route twice 🤭

An early Sunday morning round around Berrenrath - before breakfast. On forest and field paths, and with some muddy and slippery sections. And even though I had to wash the bike afterwards... it was fun :-)

Had hoped for dry roads, but got my hopes crushed when I looked out of the window. Roads were still wet from the rain last night, and once I was outside I also noticed a light drizzle. But I was already up and out, so I went for an urban ride.
Went zig-zag through the city ... and collected 54 more squadratinhos.

Headed out west on Taopu and Longnan Road. Tried a new twist under the train tracks and shortly after joined Caoan Highway all the way to Anting.

With the new tire on my Fastroad, the sun shining, the temperatures quite comfortable, and a time window in today's schedule ... I just had to seize the opportunity. Go out! Go cycling!
