Il giglio
Interesting hiking trails, which have been wound over the utilities when they were laid out.
Beautiful views of a beautiful island.

Impruneta and San Casciano, late in day.
I tried to go early evening to avoid the heat, and I knew that both of these climbs would give me shade.
Still hot, but still a couple of great quick climbs in one loop.

Monte Secchieta
Leave early to beat the heat, and be rewarded with a cool shaded climb to the refugio at Monte Secchieta. And then back to the heat!

Quickie up and down Fiesole
I left a bit later today, and the traffic was heavy (1 person per car of course). I could pass people easily enough but still sprinted away from every semaforo.
Must find a better way out of town.

Tubeless tires to the rescue again!
Both today and yesterday, just before I left a little hole started spraying a little sealant. Spinning the wheel, letting it sit and then riding, and the tire holds.
I was going for a longer ride, but just in case I stayed closer to home…. But the tire held and…

The quick one before meetings
This is the standard zip around to San Casciano, because I had to back for an early meeting. Helped along by a couple of busses.

Day Five: Acquarossa to Bellinzona
Wrapping up this tour was simple - cruise downhill, to the station in Bellinzona. And if there’s time, drop in to Lucarno and Ascona.
There was time, but the continuous rain put me off any extra travelling.
Enough rain!
So after getting to Bellinzona (via a little goat dairy) I…

Day Four: Over Passo San Gottardo and down to Ticino
Today exemplified the beauty of bike touring, and how it allows you to experience. and appreciate the world we live in.
For a short amount of time you are granted the priceless of being an observer of how the world breathes.
Listen: the morning started in a mist. Not rain,…

Day Three: The Klausen Pass in the sunshine
Finally! I rolled out from Walenstadt, along the amazing cycle paths of the Walensee, in full glorious sun. I had to remove layers because I was prepared for the worst, but no complaints. The first 40 km were a build up to the climb, and were wonderful. Amazing cycle paths…

Day Two: Away from the cold rain
I left Splugen while it was still raining and the roads were wet. It is probably still raining there. But eventually the sun found me, and travelled with me on and off for the rest of the easy ride down to Walenstadt.
A classic day of Swiss cycle touring on…

Day One: The toughest day on a bicycle.
Why? Leaving beautifully sunny and warm Bellizona (an hour late because of train delay), things went to shit quickly. It started with light drizzle at the base around 20km in, ok. Then turned to constant light rain, ok. Then as the road turned seriously up, so did the rain, and…

A bonkers fun ride with all terrain possible
Took the gravel bike out for some new beautiful roads - gravel, rocks, road, singletrack, descents, ascents.
