The disadvantage of camping: you always have to go back to the campsite - otherwise we would have gladly driven into the Yonne valley to Clamecy today.
Nevertheless: a wonderfully beautiful tour along the river, or rather the Canal Nivernais, which makes the route navigable for boats through the many

A picturesque tour takes us on small, almost traffic-free roads through the Cousin river valley. We are repeatedly amazed by the charm of the small villages with their rose bushes, the nice church squares, the varied landscape, and not least by the mountain village of Vezelay. It is known for its large

The journey is the destination: we wanted to explore the hilly park landscape with the small villages on little-trafficked roads. We succeeded: every village has its charm, plus the washhouses from the 18th century (an achievement of the French Revolution: every village with 750 inhabitants was entitled

It is cold and rainy today - a guided tour through Cormatin Castle through the magnificent rooms was just right and very interesting. The associated castle park is also beautiful and very well-kept - I especially liked the vegetable garden.
In the afternoon, we drive to the ecumenical community TAIZ

Around 1000 years ago, the Benedictine abbey was founded and continuously expanded until around 1700. Many churches across Europe were built based on its model; Cluny was the largest complex in the world at that time. Around 1789, the abbey became national property and was (unbelievable!!!!) used as

An evening round after a rainy day through the vineyards.
Exciting clouds, light and shadow, and great views of the wide landscape accompany us. And indeed, a fox and a hare cross our path at the same time.

Today we head north along the Saône. After the attractive towns of Autun, Beaune and Tournus, Chalon sur Saone has a hard time keeping up. Many places are being built and renovated; some buildings are surrounded by construction fences...
I liked the cycle path along the wide river Saône, the cathedral

We are camping in the beautiful castle park of Chateaux d' Eperviere and cycling along the wide Saone river on a good cycle path to Tournus. There we visit a concert in the approximately 1000-year-old Romanesque church of the Abbey of Philibert, a tremendous concert in a magnificent church!

A perfect bike path leads us through the picturesque vineyards to Beaune. We stroll through the large Saturday market and the market hall and visit the "Hotel de Dieu", a noteworthy hospital from the 18th century.
The colorful roofs - typical of Burgundy - are also a work of art!
The city is very touristy

In scorching heat, we take a city walk through Autun, a former Roman city, of which the city gates and the Roman theatre still bear witness today.
The market hall offers many delicacies and the 12th-century abbey church offers the longed-for coolness. The many brightly coloured stained-glass windows are

Even the backdrop of the old town with the mighty Saint Etienne Cathedral and the Abbaye Saint Germain, which tower high above the river Yonne, is visible from Weiher. Impressive are the many alleys with the colorful half-timbered houses and especially a visit to the two churches, where you can only
