This gravel tour is a dream for warm days – with panoramic views, swimming opportunities, and a veritable athletic challenge. You start at Seebrugg train station and cycle past all the major lakes of the High Black Forest: Schluchsee, Feldsee, Titisee, and Windgfällweiher. As a crowning finale, you'll reach the Feldberg summit, the highest point in the Black Forest.

After starting along Schluchsee, you'll reach the Unterkrummenhof farm. After that, the route becomes more challenging: the steady climb to the Caritashaus is a long one, demanding a lot of energy. Once at the top, you'll enjoy a stunning view and roll along the car-free road to the Feldberg summit.

A long descent follows via the Wilhelmer Hütte and Zastlerhütte to the Raimartihof farm. If you'd like, you can leave your bike at the bridge and walk around the Feldsee (approximately one kilometer). The Raimartihof serves delicious, regional cuisine.

Then you continue to Lake Titisee, which you almost completely circle, before rolling through the Bärental valley to the Windgfällweiher pond – the perfect setting for a final dip in the water. Afterwards, you return to the starting point in Seebrugg.

Feldberg Summit

Highlight • Summit

Up here you have a wonderful view of the Black Forest and beyond. Highest peak in Baden-Württemberg, great refreshment. Attention: it is better to take warmer clothes with you, because it is also the coldest place in the state on average over the year.

Feldsee

Highlight • Lake

Magic place, especially in the morning, when nothing is going on - but here is nature reserve and swimming and swimming (like many other things) prohibited.

Perfect for a gravel bike. Whether it's suitable for a road bike is certainly a matter of taste. For me, the Rinken-Alpersbach-Hinterzarten climb is more suitable (but also longer).

Titisee

Highlight • Lake

The Titisee is an absolute must on your Black Forest tour. The 20 meter deep lake was formed in the last ice age around 10,000 years ago. The basin dug out by the former Feldberg Glacier and the end moraine form Lake Titisee today.

There are many old legends about the lake. One says that at the bottom of the lake lies an ancient sunken city. The residents of the city were very rich and lost faith in God and squandered bread. They hollowed out loaves of bread and used the crust as shoes. The punishment for this was inevitable: the gates of heaven opened and a deluge poured out over the old city and buried the city under the masses of water. The old-timers still say that if you go out on the lake on a calm Sunday morning, you can see the spire of the old monastery and hear its bells ringing.
