Skyline of Boston

Highlight • Viewpoint

Cycling along the Charles River Marina you get some of the best views of the skyline of Boston – and some of the smoothest cycling trails as well.

Charles Riverfront Path

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Lots of people run, cycle, walk, and relax here. The paved track extends around the river in a roughly 8-13 mile loop. I recommend going early in the morning for a sunrise run.

This is one of four restored docks around the city. You can often find people sunbathing or soaking in the views of the Charles River from the dock.

In addition to the bike, a kayak or a canoe is a good way to explore and enjoy the river (at least if the weather is good)

What a nice time at the river ! Snow and sun and cold
Super weather very cold (felt -8 C). Few people and only little snow. Wonderful start to the day before the work at the university
Bad weather, rainy, cold and simply disgusting uncomfortable. Especially after the spring days in Italy and Frankfurt, it felt worse again. Nevertheless, it was fun to do sports
As so often after a flight with a time difference, I went for a run – despite yesterday’s exhausting trail run. 🏃‍♂️⛰️✈️ I wanted to tire myself out so I could sleep, so I went for a short loop around the Charles River Basin. 🌊 You can just run well and easy here. My planned business trips are far from …

And as always after a long flight, I went for a run – and to my great joy, together with my daughter. She loves Boston as well, because she studied here at my university and has already …
