This stretch of the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail runs along compacted gravel beside the canal near Lakeport. While lake views are mostly hidden, the route offers an easy, hike with plenty of birdlife. For this section, the trail parallels FL-78, so light traffic noise is noticeable, but it gradually drifts away from the highway into quieter surroundings where you can enjoy the stillness of the lake.
