The Gerberloch or the Gerberhöhle has a very attractive location on the southern, precipitous rocky slope of the Burghalde near Hayingen, according to the description of the Oberamts. It is located about 650 meters above sea level. and 60 m above the bottom of the narrow Fichtel valley, very close to the ring wall. It used to be accessible only by rock climbing, but now it has been made easily accessible by a steeple with railing from the Albverein. The Gerberhöhle is to protect the bats in the winter months i. d. R. from 15.11. closed until 15.04!

For me the caves were very impressive. Definitely make the detour.

The descent or ascent is also not to be underestimated. It is an alpine-inspired path - with handrail and rope insurance. Surefootedness and a head for heights are prerequisites.
